Purpose of study: Existing literature on sensory-based interventions for older adults predominantly focuses on community or rehabilitation settings, with limited evidence on acute care implementation. Without understanding how occupational therapists perceive and apply these interventions in acute contexts, opportunities for knowledge translation, practice improvement, and education remain constrained. This international survey will help identify common practice patterns, gaps, and needs, thereby contributing to enhanced evidence-informed practice and policy.

Primary Aim: To explore occupational therapists’ perspectives on the use, implementation, and contextual fit of sensory-based interventions when working with older adults in acute care settings.

Participation criteria: Occupational therapists with current or previous experience in acute care settings, particularly those who have worked with older adults and are familiar with sensory-based interventions.

  • Qualified occupational therapists
  • Currently practicing in, or with past experience in, acute care
  • Have worked with older adults (65+ years)
  • Familiar with sensory-based interventions
